Looks like someone finally brought the hammer down on Steven Spielberg. His remake of Chan Wook Park’s Oldboy has reportedly been cancelled. This is good news… because the original is already damn near perfect.

The fact that Will Smith was going to be in the damn thing had me quaking in my Vans. Smith ruining another one of my favorite stories is more than I could have handled. I might have had to Ledger myself if this thing came to fruition.

The talks reportedly broke down because Spielberg’s Dreamworks and the owners of the original manga that Oldboy is based upon couldn’t come to an agreement. Hurray greedy Korean manga company!

How about a Will Smith “Daaaamn!”?

I would have been good, boy!
